Lofer - In the centre of Salzburg’s Saalachtal

Leisure options and activities

Even though it’s the smallest town by area with just over 55 km², Lofer with its population of around 2,000 is the most populous of the four Saalachtal township, and thanks to its central location is also the centre of life in Saalachtal.

Hiking, biking, mountaineering, climbing, swimming, Nordic walking and many other activities on your summer holidays in Lofer or skiing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, tobogganing and winter hiking or snowshoeing and more on your winter holidays in Lofer - the region offers a sheer endless range of leisure options!

But there is also plenty going on in Loferer Waterworld. The outdoor pool Steinbergbad Lofer awaits young and old with an adventure pool, wild river and large family area. And those who come not just to relax in the cool waters, can simply grab a paddle. Because Saalach River has plenty of challenges in store for kayakers and rafting fans.

In winter many holidaymakers come here in addition to winter sports fans, to simply take a leisurely stroll through the town centre and go window shopping. Sample some regional treats in our taverns and restaurants offering Saalachtal cooking, or simply enjoy the romantic atmosphere.
